Spend & Save Programme Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

• “Programme” means the Spend & Save Programme.
• “Customer” means any person who has enrolled in the Spend & Save Programme and is eligible to earn cashback rewards.
• “Cashback” means rewards accumulated from qualifying transactions made through approved SurePay USSD merchant codes.
• “Policy” means a qualifying life insurance or savings policy issued by ICEA LION Life Assurance Company Uganda Limited under the Spend & Save arrangement.
• “Tele Agent” means an authorized Spend & Save representative who facilitates policy signup remotely by telephone.

2. Eligibility

• Participation in the Programme is open to individuals who successfully register for Spend & Save and meet the eligibility requirements communicated by the Programme.
• To redeem accumulated cashback, a customer must have or complete enrollment into a qualifying life insurance or savings policy with ICEA LION Life Assurance Company Uganda Limited.
• The life insurance policy provides the applicable insurance covers and benefits as outlined in the respective policy terms and conditions issued by ICEA LION.

3. Cashback Accumulation

• Cashback is earned only from qualifying transactions completed through SurePay USSD merchant codes.
• Cashback collections are processed through mobile money payment transactions linked to approved SurePay merchant codes.
• The cashback amount earned may vary depending on the participating merchant, promotional rates, and Programme rules communicated from time to time.
• Cashback balances are recorded and reconciled in accordance with the Programme’s operational procedures.

4. Policy Enrollment and Activation

• A successful policy signup under Spend & Save shall be completed remotely by an authorized Spend & Save Tele Agent over the telephone.
• Physical agents are not authorized to complete or confirm policy signup under the Spend & Save Programme unless expressly communicated by the Programme.
• Customers may be required to provide accurate personal information and complete any verification or Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements required by ICEA LION or applicable law.

5. Cashback Redemption

• Cashbacks accumulated under the Programme are not redeemable for cash.
• Cashbacks are redeemable only through application toward a qualifying life insurance policy or savings plan with ICEA LION Life Assurance Company Uganda Limited.
• All cashbacks earned under the Fixed Cashback Category shall be redeemable up to the value of the personal monthly premium contribution selected or determined by the customer under their qualifying ICEA LION policy.
• Once the accumulated cashback reaches the communicated redemption threshold, the customer must complete the required policy or savings plan enrollment within ninety (90) days from the date of accumulation.
• If the customer does not complete the required policy or savings plan enrollment within the ninety (90) day period, the accumulated cashback may be converted into a qualifying savings plan or life insurance policy with ICEA LION in accordance with the Programme’s applicable procedures and requirements.
• Cashbacks shall be used for savings and policy funding purposes only and shall not be refunded or withdrawn in cash by the customer.

6. Premium Funding

• The customer may choose or be guided to determine a monthly premium amount for the qualifying life insurance or savings policy.
• Accumulated Spend & Save cashback collections may be applied to fund the customer’s monthly premium partially or wholly, depending on the cashback balance and the premium amount due.
• If the available cashback balance is insufficient to meet the full premium amount, the customer may be required to pay the balance through approved payment channels.
• The application of cashback toward premiums is subject to the policy terms, payment schedules, and reconciliation procedures of ICEA LION and the Spend & Save Programme.

6. Personal Monthly Premium Contribution

• Every Customer participating in the Spend & Save Programme shall select or agree upon a Personal Monthly Premium Contribution during the policy enrollment process.
• The Personal Monthly Premium Contribution shall determine the monthly amount payable towards the Customer’s qualifying life insurance or savings policy with ICEA LION Life Assurance Company Uganda Limited.
• Eligible cashback collections under the Fixed Cashback Category shall be applied towards meeting the Customer’s Personal Monthly Premium Contribution, up to the selected monthly premium amount.

7. Receipts and Statements

• All cashback collections and premium applications shall be receipted monthly.
• Customers may receive transaction statements, receipts, or policy contribution records showing cashback collections, adjustments, reconciliations, and amounts applied toward their policy.
• Customers are encouraged to review all receipts and statements and report any discrepancies within the period communicated by the Programme.

8. Customer Responsibilities

• Customers must provide accurate and complete information during registration, policy enrollment, and subsequent interactions with the Programme.
• Customers are responsible for safeguarding their mobile money credentials and ensuring that transactions are authorized by them.
• Customers must comply with all instructions, policy terms, payment schedules, and Programme requirements communicated by Spend & Save and ICEA LION.

9. Fraud and Misuse

• The Programme reserves the right to investigate suspected fraud, abuse, duplicate accounts, unauthorized transactions, or any misuse of the Spend & Save system.
• Cashback balances obtained through fraudulent or unauthorized means may be reversed, suspended, or forfeited.
• Participation in fraudulent activities may result in termination from the Programme and any other legal or administrative action permitted under applicable law.

10. Programme Changes

• Spend & Save and ICEA LION reserve the right to amend, suspend, or discontinue the Programme, cashback rates, redemption thresholds, eligible merchants, or operational procedures at any time.
• Where practicable, customers will be notified of material changes through appropriate communication channels.

11. Privacy and Data Protection

• Customer personal information collected through the Programme may be used for registration, verification, policy administration, customer support, cashback reconciliation, and related Programme operations.
• Information may be shared with ICEA LION Life Assurance Company Uganda Limited, SurePay, and authorized service providers only to the extent necessary for the operation of the Programme and compliance with applicable laws.
• Customer information shall be handled in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws.

12. Limitation of Liability

• Spend & Save, SurePay, and ICEA LION shall not be liable for delays, interruptions, or failures caused by mobile money systems, telecommunications networks, merchant systems, or other factors beyond their reasonable control.
• ICEA LION’s obligations regarding the life insurance or savings policy are governed by the specific policy contract issued to the customer.

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda.

14. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for and participating in the Spend & Save Programme, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
